Congratulations to Magdalene for the fastest time! Apologies to everyone for the rather low hung control 7 which cause a bit of grief. In the spirit of the donut "O" the 9 participants managed to clean up 47 timbits upon completion of the course. Thanks to everyone that picked controls.

2nd week of WET, we had a bit of a slow start with attendance, but Leigh put on an awesome course! Something happened to the receipt printer so not sure how accurate these results are. Next week we will have this figured out!

We had a gorgeous night in Uplands for a fast rip through the park. Andrey came out on top with a blazing fast 16:59, congrats. There was some decent route choice over 14 controls, giving an edge to the adventurous. Cookies and a nice breeze awaited the finishers at Cattle point. We are starting to get better attendance at WET events, please come out and bring a friend you want to introduce to Orienteering! Thanks to everyone who helped clean up controls. See you next week at Layritz Park.

We had a scorcher of a run tonight at Layritz Park - 33 degrees C in the evening sun! On the long course (approx 5km) Jeffrey snuck in a victory by 3 seconds thanks to a missing punch (MP) by Andrey. Andrey had a great run despite being disqualified. On the short course Marcus breezed through in 13 minutes on his bike - nice work Marcus! Sophie and her Mom had a great run and collected some ladybugs on the way, India and Gramma took their time enjoying a walk in the summer heat. Congrats to everyone who simply finished the race in the ridiculous 33 degree weather!

Control #1 fell off and caused some trouble, so I've adjusted the splits to simulate results. Thanks to Holly for putting on a great event - her first time organizing. Nice touch having ice cold Freezies at the Finish line! Thanks also to Linda for helping out and to everyone who picked up controls.

Tonight Ross laid out a challenging course through the blackberry infested brambles of Camosun College Interurban campus. The weather was great for running and we had a good mix of forested and urban controls. Magdalena had her golden moment where everything came together and blitzed the course in record time earning her top stop on the podium. Andrey was a distant second well over 3 minutes behind speedy Mag. Our apologies to newcomer Matt for his brutal intro to orienteering with some difficult early controls, major blackberry thrashing and then coming back to a parking ticket. Don't worry Matt, it gets more fun, we promise! Huge thanks to Ross for setting up this event and to everyone who helped pick up controls.

We are halfway done the summer WET season, with only 5 events remaining -
Be sure to drag your friends out to future WET events!

WET participants enjoyed a beautiful evening at Highrock Park for the Dogbones/Score-O event. The dogbones proved to be a challenge making the small area into an unexpected maze. Lessons learned include "always bring a compass" and "fastest is not always better", especially when the scale of the map and the speed of our runners meant that it was easy to suddenly be well past the control and onto another bone by accident. Roger had the fastest time and also recorded a distance of 2.32 km. Marcus and Jeremy had the fastest time on the Score-O, and newcomers Matt and Paulina posted a respectable Score-O time as well. Thanks again everyone for your enthusiasm!

Tonight's WET was a true team effort. Thanks go out to the lovely Diana H for course planning a true runners sprint back and forth across UVic. Leigh B for getting the course onto the computer and printed. Larry S for course setting. Marie, Leigh and Jeremy for control pick up. Magdalena for carting the WET gear away in car for next week.

Andrey and Virginia were given the night off from helping pick controls for finishing first and second respectively on the Foot O.

The bikers finished in a virtual dead heat (pun intended in the 28 degree weather) with Marie besting Marcus and Jeremy

Our Score O featured a matchup of one of our eldest members, Leigh, and one of our youngest members Miss Sophie.

See you all next week at Thetis.

Magdalena + family put on an awesome point-to-point Memory-O event. Runners were not given a map, but instead had a map fragment at each control to memorize before travelling to the next control. While it proved extremely difficult for some, others ate the course for breakfast. Andrey finished #1 by a healthy margin, good effort put forward by Kirstin Roiger and Jeffrey. Thanks to Magdalena for organizing and to all who came out! The days are getting shorter and we only have a couple events left. Hope to see you next week!

Thanks to Pauline for putting on a fun event at Thetis Lake! It's great to see people who have never organized an event before contributing to WET! It was a gorgeous night out for a fast rip through the Thetis Lake forests. Lots of good route choice and interesting control locations. Thanks Pauline for putting forth an amazing effort to put this one together!

Roger finished off the WET season with an awesome course through Upper Francis King park. A good mix of controls made this event fun for all levels. Andrey had a clean fast run leaving little room for anyone else to come close. Thanks to everyone who made it out for the final WET event of the summer. We hope to see you all at upcoming VICO events, which will be posted on the VICO website at http://whyjustrun.ca
