2025 Wednesday Evening Training (WET)

Thanks everyone for your interest in attending the WET series! We are looking forward to a good summer of orienteering. Our goal is to maintain weekly activities for everyone to enjoy along with giving new organizers a chance to try out planning an orienteering session. Mostly, this is a chance to expand your knowledge about orienteering and practice new skills in a fun atmosphere, so here are a few resources to help you:

1. Learn Orienteering - a comprehensive learning website that explains basic and advanced orienteering skills using helpful videos.

2. RouteGadget - Orienteering Canada - this database contains lots of past orienteering events along with GPS routes - great tool to analyze performance and practice route choice. Look here for an explanation on how to use this resource: Learn Orienteering Route Gadget

3. Maprunner CD Quiz - wanting to become more expert at control description (CD) symbols? This online quiz lets you practice identifying IOF symbols and map symbols in a fun format to challenge you

4. Orienteering Event Organizer Handbook - this handbook contains valuable info on how to organize and plan an orienteering event. Highly recommended read for those who have volunteered to run a session.

The congested zig zag course demanded attention to detail. Everyone was challenged making sure to head to the right control without missing any. The more experienced crowd also testing their skills at navigating these short legs at speed. This training session generated a lot of lively post race discussion and was a great training event for all. Thank you to everyone that came out and enjoyed a beautiful evening in the park.
